Ich habe Dortmund gefolgen auf Twitter. Es war sehr schwierig, aber sehr interessant. Ich mag Dortmund.

AMD 6 Clark Sanford

Für AMD 6 ich habe über Deutsche Angeln gelernt. Gleich mir lieben die Deutsche zu angeln! Es gibt 170.000 Angler in Deutschland. Sie sind sehr ernst über angeln. In Deutschland haben sie viele Fisch, das ich weiß. Auch haben sie Fisch, das ich weiß nicht. In das Video habe ich different Angeln methods gesehen. Sie haben sehr lang poles benutzt. Ich weiß nicht was sie heißen. Aber sie haben fly Angeln, also ich glücklich bin.

Sind sie für sharks angeln? 

Wenn ich nach Deutschland fliege, will ich viel angeln! Ich werde mein pole mitbringen, also ich angeln kann. Kann ich mein pole auf dem Flugzeug mitbringen? Ich weiß nicht. Was ich weiß, es werde ich find a way mein pole mitbringen.

AMD 6, Yuntao Chen

For this AMD, I watched the German movie "Das Wunder von Bern".

The movie tells the story of the football dream of a young boy, Matthias, intertwined with the process of the coronation of West Germany's football team in the 1954 FIFA World Cup in Bern.

The movie is very interesting in a lot of ways. First, it depicts the German society in a very subtle period of time. In the early 1950s, the German society was in a big transition. On one hand, it was still over-shadowed by the WWII. One line of plots in the movie is about the return of Matthias' father from Russian war prison and the difficulties he encountered in the process of re-integration into a normal life. The effect of the war can also be  seen in the damaged and littered neighborhood that Matthias was living and his disabled neighbor. On the other hand, you can also see the rejuvenation of the economy and Germany as a country. The mine at Essen was back running at full steam and the new houses in München were just as nice as those in the US.

In this rapid transition, a lot of people were confused and frustrated. There are the old soldiers who can not run away from their nightmares during war, there are the young guys thinking that Communism is the answer to all the problems, and there are the audiences totally losing the confidence over their football team.

However, when West Germany defeated then world champion Hungary, everybody in Germany was inspired. I think that was the moment when the sense of pride started to come back to the German people. And that is definitely essential for the beginning of the Wirtschaftswunder (economy miracle).

From a language point of view, I have to admit that without the help of subtitles it is fairly hard for me to understand anything other than basic words. Unlike the documentary that I watched previously, in the movie people talked in "normal" speed and I suspect there are also slangs. But nonetheless I enjoyed it very much and would like to recommend it. 

AMD 6

For this AMD I am going to right about our class trip to the Museum of Art. The whole trip was used as a good tool for us to practice speaking German with our new vocabulary. The trip started with us going into the gift shop and saying what things we could get people for Christmas. I said: "Ich schenke meiner Mutter diese Schüssel" and "Ich schenke meinem Vater diese Skulptur." This is good practice for using dative words. The next thing we did was go to room full of European art that was mostly from the Renaissance Era. Here we talked what kind of are we liked or disliked. For example, "Albrecht Dürer gefällt mir," or "Dieses gemälde gefällt mir nicht." Then we went up a level and looked at more paintings. One painting had 3 women looking at a sculpture of a woman. I made the comment, "Das Skulptur hat ein großen Hintern." Maybe not the most appropriate comment. We also saw some small dancing figures and practiced the body vocab. After this we went and saw a cool sculpture of female warrior made entirely of gun parts and bullet shells welded together. This was really cool and one example of modern that I can actually appreciate. Next was the main section of modern art, and "es gefällt mir nicht." "Ich verstehe moderne Kunst." Some pieces look cool, but seem so easy to do. One piece was just a bunch of random pieces of paper glued together making a mash of gunk. Another one looked like a giant piece of grey drywall, with a little line of paint on the side. Overall, it was a fun experience that helped me with my vocabulary, using the dative, and saying what I like and don't like.

AMD 6

Für AMD 6 hab ich die Oper Die Tote Stadt von Erich Wolfgang Korngold erforscht. Ich lerne die Arie "Mein Sehnen, mein Wähnen", so ich wollte die Arie und die Oper besser verstehen.  Erste, hab ich die Handlung gelesen, und ich hab einige Clips von Youtube gesehen.  Hier ist die Handlung. Die Handlung ist sehr interessant. Die zweiten und dritten Akt sind Träume von Paul. Es gibt viele Clips von Youtube, wie eine volle Leistung von Deutsche Oper Berlin in 1983 mit James King und Karan Armstrong.  Die Musik ist SEHR schön, aber ich mag James King nicht.  Er ist zu starr wann er singt, und er hat wenig Emotion, und ich denke Paul sollte expressiv sein, aber das ist meiner Anseicht.

Die Arie, die ich singen, ist einer der schönsten Lieder ich habe gehört. Hier ist ein Link zu eine interessante Version ich mag. Pierrot singt die Arie in die zweiten Akt. Die text von die Arie ist:

Ich bin sehr gespannt auf lernen dieses Arie.  Ich möchte die ganze Oper sehen.  Es ist nicht sehr gut bekannt, aber die Musik ist so schön! Es gibt so viele gut Opern, die nicht gut bekannt sind.  I wünschte, ich hab Zeit für mehr Opern zu hören.

AMD 6 - Alex Gamso

Für AMD 6, ich habe drei Disney Lieder in Deutsch mit Englisch und Deutsch subtitles. Es war einfach für mich, weil ich Disney Films liebe.
Die erste Lied war "Prinz Alli" oder in Englisch "Prince Alli" aus Disney's Aladdin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fyfT50pY3jQ). Es ist schnell, aber spaß. Es ist einfach anfangs mit der Sultan. Er sagt "Was, was ist das?" etwas das wir alle kennen. Die erste line of die Lied ist "Bahn frei für Prinz Ali!" Prinz ist wie es sounds. "Sagt 'hi' für Prinz Ali!" another einfach Satz. Die rest of die Leid ist sehr schnell. Ich picked up ein paar Adjektive und anderen Worten wie wunderbar, jetzet, ein tag, Applaus, du Idiot, etc. Die Dative ist apparent in der Lied auch.
Meine next choice war "Endlich sehe ich das Licht" oder in Englisch "I see the Light" aus Tangled (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oG5NjvQ_L_Y). Es ist langsam. Ich understood most of die Lied. Ich highly recommend zuhören, weil es ist schön, even in Deutsch. Viele der Worte sind einfach, weil wir haben gelernt.
Die letzte  Lieder war "Ehre für das Haus" oder in Englisch "Honor to us All" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLNtjR0Iexs&list=UUBdtk7uxFDOXbwwFnLiAY3A). Es ist nicht schnell und nicht langsam. Es ist perfekt für einen Deutsch 101 student. Die main Wort ist Ehre (honor). Wenn Mulan ist in das Bad und sagt "Das ist ja eiskalt!" , sie hört wie Lola aus Lola Rennt. Again, haben wir veile Worte gelernt. Eine Grille (cricket) ist für Glück. Es hat das same model verb several times. Es ist schön auch.
Ich denke dass zuhören Disney Leider ist gut für Deutsch lernen.

Für AMD 6, Ich schielt die Spracheinstellung für mein Internet ins Deutsche. Ich
erkannte viele Wörter wir in Deutsch 101 gelernt haben. Zum biespiel auf der
Google Startseite, ich wusste: Google-Suche (Google Search), bilder (pictures),
Kalendar, Kontakte, mehr, und neue. Ander Wörter muss ich verstehen: zurück
(back), hilfe (help), Feedback geben (to give feedback), Optionen (options), Link in
neuem Tab/Fenster öffnen (open link in new tab/window) und Über Google (about
google) . Neue wörter habe ich gelehrt: Einstellungen (settings),
Datenschutzbestimmungen (privacy and term settings), Auf gut Glück (I’m feeling
lucky!), Übersetzen in Deustch (translate to German), Drucken (to print),
Ausschneiden (cut), und Einfügen (paste), und Rückgängig (undo).

AMD 6 Jake Prosyniuk

Für diese AMD, habe ich Kinderreime gelernt. Ich habe gehört, dass Deutsche Kinderreime morbid sind. Ich habe mit ein Wörterbuch gelesen. Ich will wissen, wie morbid die Kinderreime sind.

Der erste Reim ist Hoppe hoppe Reiter heißen:

For my AMD6, ich habe Easy German Episodes gesehen. Ich begann mit eine Episode zu flirten. It was entertaining to watch, and my favorite pick-up line from the clip was "Halt mal kurz, ich ruf dich an." The guy said this line while giving his iPhone to a girl he was flirting with. Although, this line only works when the girl has an interest in him, and not stealing the phone. I realized that there are not much guy's pick-up line in Deutschland, but there are many active girls who are eager to flirt without the help of alcohol.

Second clips are episode 20 and 21. There were sehr viele Antworten.

Also, many were not proud to be in Germany, but many were happy and loving to live in Germany and to be German. One of the reasons is that there are more foreigners in the country than before, so the more the diversity, the less the sense of nationalism that people would have. Some would like to live in Italy, Argentina, Greece, Ireland, Canada, Sweden, Spain, France, Yugoslavia, and Australia. So random!!

Third clip was about dreams and wishes (Träume und Wünsche). I thought this clip was so sweet. The interviewer (Manuel) was in north Germany, where the temperature was -6C. So everyone was frozen, but not the salt water! Here are the dreams and wishes from the people in north Germany.
