The article Sex, Smut and Shock, I think that the other news papers are wasting their time. If the german news paper wants to write about crazy things, sex, and "Smut". Then let them, they're a business making money whatever way they know they can. The German Privacy article made it seem like germans are to themselves and don't ever want to be bothered. So when the place is burning down don't bother knocking because they wouldn't want to be disturbed, just kidding. If I am ever in Germany I am going to knock on the door so hard you would think the KGB is trying to break in and when the person yells for me to come in, I am going to keep knocking until they open the door. The Division of Hell: Worshipping the Garbage Gods, didn't make a lot of sense to me. They separate all the items by glass color, paper, and whatever else and then throw them all together in the garbage truck. Maybe I miss read, or the article might have the wrong information. I think its good that they separate everything, and allows for more recycling. It would be good if the USA could adopt this system other than throwing everything together after it had been separated. You can see some of this at Michigan though, they have 3 tins one for paper, one for recyclable and one for garage.

For this blog post I read four of the articles. In the Rule of the Street they talk about how germans don't say enschuldigung and just shove their way through. I would think if this happened in America if would get to the point were someone would probably end up shot over it. And I don't think I would like to be constantly pushed or stepped on when I am just trying to walk wherever I am going. The German Erotica article doesn't surprise me. Everywhere else is pretty open with sex and nudity. I remember when I was young my Mutter had gotten some magazines in the the mail from my Oma about the news which was like a TIME Magazine and there were naked women in there! OMG! To me it explains why porn is such a huge industry in the US. It like a forbidden fruit that everyone wants. If it were a normal thing to see and it wouldn't be such a big deal. The next article was abut the Klofrau or the "bathroom lady". I think that everyone should have this especially the bars and clubs. Most higher end bars and clubs do but I think it everyone should have these. When I'm drunk I don't wanna be walking into a bathroom where someone else peed all over everything and then it stays like that the whole night. The last article I read was about scoring a german women. This seemed a little confusing to me because I didn't understand what would happen next after you glance at the girl you like and she sees you. Does she come talk to you? Or do we just continue to look at each other for the rest of the night with timed glances? If all I have to do is glance over at her and she comes over to talk to me, then picking up girls in Germany should be cake. Not that its hard in the US, I just wouldn't have to walk over to the girl anymore. And I am unsure of where the writer for this article got his information on how guys talk to girls outside of Germany saying "Yo baby" but I have never seen any guy pick up a girl like this.

For this AMD I didn't have any ideas of what to really do. So I checked out the Idees sections and was surprised to find an American Football League site. What was even more surprising was that the teams were actually good. Maybe this should just be expected from the Deutsch Leute denn sie seem to be gut um alles. If you put the highlight film against any high school oder college team you would be able to tell the difference ob sie were American oder Deutsch. Fur being so young in a sport especially in a nation that it has a national sport of soccer it was very surprising to see. I don't think they are ready for the NFL yet but maybe soon. I think the NFL has the least amount of players from over seas than another sport in the USA. It would be nice to see other nations top players come and play in the US as we already do for other sports.

AMD4, Michael Nizinski

For this AMD, I made a live mocha account. I did the lessons, which were very easy at the beginning and then became harder to understand because they really don't tell you what to do. I do think this is a great learning tool. You are able to earn money depending on how good you do and buy more lessons. Also you are able to check other peoples homework or lessen and see if they done in correctly in your native language and leave a rating and comment to help them which I thought was pretty cool. You are also able to record yourself speaking and they are able to help if you are speaking correctly and pronunciations. You also learn new words that we haven't covered in the class yet. I tried finding where I can speak to someone but it told me that the feature was coming soon. Which I think once it is available for use will be a great help to continuously talk to someone in Deutsch so I will be easier to remember the sentence structures.

I read a few articles, "The Red Dictator", "Illogical Logic", and "Fare-Dodgers Beware". The red dictator talked about crossing the street when you are not signaled to. How everyone will star at you with there irritated eyes and the cars trying to hit you if you cross early. I am sure like almost every student at Michigan we cross when there are not cars and on wait when we need to without having to worry about the car a 500 ft away speeding up and trying to hit us. I think this is a little ridiculous and shows the kind of control traffic laws have over our lives. The illogical logic article didn't make sense to me. I thought it made germans look stupid when there not. It basically talks about the questions you ask and if you fail to reitterate what your talking about specifically they will give you a wrong answer rather than just answering you with the correct information pertaining to your first question. This is logically. The article I believe has it wrong. The last article I read was about the Fare-Dodgers Beware article , it states that you do not have any one making sure you pay for the bus or subway but you are on the good faith of the stations to do the right thing and pay. If not you are fined. I like this system because everyone should know to pay and do what is right with out being forced to do so.

AMD 3 Michael Nizinski

For this AMD I watch a short documentary on Franz Beckenbauer. I will not write everything about his life and accomplishments because I do not think anyone is that interested in his life and that would be a drie page papia.  Fran Beckenbaur was and still is regarded as Germany’s best Foßball player of all time. He was born 11, September 1945 in Munich. When he was acht Jahre alt he saw the West German team win the world cup, he regarded them as his heroes. The first club he joined was S.C. Munich 06. By the time he was driezehn Jahre alt the team dissolved. Er speile für Bayern jung team. The coach of this team, Chick Kocovski (which I am not sure is the correct spelling) was like a father to him. After exceling there he joined Bayern’s regional south league and two years later made his first debut in the 1966 World Cup playing for West Germany. West Germany made in to the finals against England. England had won 4-2 which upset Franz but he also thought that they should have won.  After that match a Munich journalist gave Franz his nickname “der Kaiser” which means “The Emperor”. In 1968-69 he won German foßball player of the Jahre award and introduced a new position to the game. The new position was called the “libero” which is also known as the “swiper”. In 1970 West Germany made in to the quarter finals against England were they won 3-2. The next match after that was against Italy, Franz had dislocated his shoulder and was taken out of the game. He said it was the most intense match he had ever watched. West Germany ended up losing the match but soon after he was named captain of the National World Team (West Germany). He won his first trophy as captain for West Germany against the USSR in the 1972 European Championship. In 1974 the World Cup was held in West Germany. The team almost didn’t play because of conflict with the federation and the players, which would have been embarrassing to West Germany to host the World Cup and not have a national team playing. That same year West Germany won the World Cup and the team immediately went home to celebrate with their wives that they had barely seen for months on end. From 1974-76 the club team Franz speilt fur Bayern Munich won drei straight Jahres the European Championship with Bechenbauer as captain. He had lost the next Jahre and retired from all leagues in Europe because he was struggling with personal matters. Er decided to go to New York and play for the New York Cosmos.  He won drei NSAL titles with them and then returned to Europe to play again for Hamburg. There he suffered many injuries and decide to retire again. In 1984 he became the manager for West Germany and taken them to a World Cup again. Now in his old age, he is an Ambassador of foßball in Germany.

I read the article "An Obsession Explained: Beers, Brewskies and Liquid Bread". It was pretty interesting and humorous. It stated how german beer companies would lie about the beer to get you to drink it like stating "The beer wont give you a hang over" and that a law was passed limiting the ingredients. Also according to the article "you are never more than a few meters away from a beer", which is awesome. Im moving right now. I would love to have a few beers on my lunch break especially when I have to deal with numbers all day at my pervious job, relax the headache a bit. The article went into the different beers, which I think I would like most of them because most were dark beer. The only thing bad with that is all dark beers give you a hangover. The other thing it mention was the few mixtures that they would do with beer. The only one I think I would like is a mixture called Russn, which is half lemonade and half beer. I forgot to mention another thing. They have a beer called Weisenbeir, which is served with white sausage and pretzels for breakfast. I would have this every morning before school if I could.

AMD2 Michael Nizinski

For AMD 2 I watched some music videos. The first one I watch was 2 Raumwohnung - Wir Trafen uns in einem garten , meaing we met in a garden. The song sound chill and was snipet originally made for a cigarette company before it was a whole song. The second video was Die Prinzen - Millionär which I am assuming they are talking about they would be if they were millionaires and how it is not to be. The songs seems comedic and catchy. The third one was Sportfreunde Stiller -54, 74,90,2010 which is about Germany being world champs in football. This song was one of my favorites I listened to.

"The Whining, Bitching, and Moaning" article is about how Germans are always complaining. I think that the article is kind of ironic because it’s a German complaining about how much Germans complain. People complaining will be found anywhere complaining about anything. It’s not that Germans do it more; I think it is more noticeable to the writer for the fact that he/she is German. Most people complaining are only complaining because they are bored, stress and really have nothing better to do. The second article I read was "The German Stare Down: Watcha Lookin at, Granny?". It states how Germans have starring problems and they watch you do everything and watch everywhere you go, like a hawk in the sky watching it pray. Again, with this article I don’t think it’s just Germans. I think it’s all older foreigners. The article also says that this came from when there was communism and everyone would watch out the window for anything. This makes a lot of sense. My mother is this way and I am sure her mother was like this because my grandmother was raised in a communistic era so I think my mother just picked it up from her. It is actually kind of funny think about. My mother would be able to tell me what was going on with the whole neighborhood, just by paying attention to what’s happening outside and listening to what was going on around her. I remember waking up in the morning and my mother asking me if I had heard what happened at night and she would be puzzled because I slept right through it. I am sure that anyone of seas when the war was going on was like this also, it had become necessity to watch out to protect your family and just carried forward from there.

AMD1 Michael Nizinski

For the AMD1 I watched a german music video by Alexander Knappe called "Weil Ich Weider zu Hause Bin" which I beleive is "Because I am back home". Its about a guy leaving come back home and reminscing about all the good times he had, missing home, and fußball. The other part of the AMD1 I watched a lot of "Tatort" Angezählt. One of the detectives family memebers got sprayed with gasoline by a kid on a bycicle and the lady started on fire and was badly burnt. They tracked down the get and he gave the other detective a note. One of the things I liked about watching this show was that you could understand a lot of what they were saying. If I could understand what they were saying, I was able to see what was going on and get what they could have been saying. I think if I were to continue to watch this, that it would help understand german better, and help me pick up the language easier.

The How German is America brochure was very interesting.   It has a lot of information on the USA and German back ground. A few of the more interesting things were that more americans claim a german ancestry when it is more likely to think that they would claim an english one. They had pamphelts made in Switerzerland in the english and german languasge to try to persuade the people to move from that area and surrounding areas to Wisconsin to help increase popualtion. If they did ,they had representatives in NewYork to help them when they got to the US. Since 1800 more than 7 million german speakers have moved to USA. Other things that I found interesting  is that german is spoken by an estimated 125 million people, it is the most widely spoken language in the European Union, and it is ranked as the third or fourth most widely used language in USA and Canada. One other thing that I never noticed before was that the german language uses more of the time of day for greeting each other than english.
