 I found it interesting that there is such a thing as a "Germanic Stare Down," in America if you were to stare down people it is considered rude. After reading the article, I understand why German neighbors are so nosy, to put it because of what happened during the 20th century. I just would find it extremely awkward and uncomfortable to find someone staring at me. I would probably not be able to stare back at the person. If I ever go to Germany, I will remember this and not think they are staring at me because I am a foreigner, but that is just what Germans do.
